Sand Meets Sea
£15.00 – £50.00
In this painting I wanted to work with a dark underpainting and a lighter colour on top. Working with lots of energy in my brush stroke I have attempted to keep the feeling abstract. To give the piece a sense of proportion, where the sea meets the sand I created the long vertical line, as if in exclamation finishing with a group of walkers.
When I paint with oil on canvas, I use linen or cotton canvas and stretch them myself. My technique is a layered one with a value underpainting in a contrasting colour to the main key colour of the subject. Then, I layer the paint with large brush strokes allowing to dry inbetween the layers as to keep the colours clean. I enjoy seeing the thick brush strokes layered on the canvas.
