Bamburgh 3

Bamburgh is a large village on the coast of Northumberland. It is a beautiful place with everything that you would imagine an English Village would have; a cricket pitch, golf course, great pubs, an amazing butcher’s and of course Bamburgh Castle.

But I am drawn to the beach. It is a vast and magical place. On most days you can see to the Farne Islands and down to Seahouses. It is that expanse of sand that moves with the tide that mesmerises me. At the very end of Bamburgh beach, with Lindisfarne and Scotland off in the distance, the sand dunes jut out into the sea. The texture, colour and values are so different between the two.

There the sand seems to melt into the sea and sky; I wanted to capture the feeling of serenity, the calm sea and the drifting sand against the heavy sky and the gently swaying salt grass.
